RECRUITING - NOT WORRIED

QB/DL decommits
Saw the Blake Hebert news. I see some people are concerned.
For me, I am not concerned at all. I was not sold on Hebert to begin with but, wish him a great and successful career. As we all know, we live in the world of NIL and transfer portal. I believe this is a great time to have to get a QB out of the portal.
Names to look at if they were to enter portal (in no particular order) Julian Sayin Air Noland Gunner Stockton Ty Simpson DJ Lagway
There are plenty more to look at. But I think some of these guys can be the answer after Cade and fit great in the offense. To learn under Cade for a year and have the opportunity to take over after him, is an enticing opportunity to some.. I would think
As far as the DL commits that we have lost, not alarmed either. Wish those young men a great career but with Eason/Rumph - I am not worried about that position at all. We are deep there anyway.. ( we will lose a few next season to the draft).

You think those guys are coming to Clemson without a big upfront NIL payment which Dabo wont offer?

Not only that, I am not sure the transfer portal is necessarily a part of our(Clemson's) world. All three hurt. Yes we are deep at DL, but these were top level talents that I doubt we can replace with equal or greater talent at this stage of the cycle. I believe it will work out, but if we don't replace Hebert we will have gone through 2 cycles without signing a QB.

None of us knows for sure what he will or won't do in that situation. We also don't know what it would take to get a qb. Of all the areas the staff manages I worry the least about recruiting.

I didn't used to worry about recruiting because under the old rules, we did well when going to head to head against most everyone else. I am concerned about the future since there really are no rules anymore, and the elite programs seem better funded and more willing to do what is necessary to get the top talent.
I appreciate our culture and our values, but after a few years of all this shaking out, I do wonder where that will leave us in the future and whether we will be as competitive as we have been.

I'd say you pretty much nailed it. It sure is odd that everyone is coming out the woodwork now saying they weren't sold on Herbert. Where are they now? And T-Net staff has/had him rated at a 4.46* ... really close to a 5*. Most agreed when he committed. Raved about his film. But now he's a back-up and was never going to sniff the field. Which is it?

The only one I would see as a possibility would be Lagway. He is the only one I remember to be a big CU target. Clemson would give him a better opportunity to succeed than what Florida currently offers.
This may also be one that the staff would open the checkbook up (a little bit) for since know him already.
