Prisma pauses all inpatient elective surgeries.

All time highs for COVID hospitalization. 90% COVID patients in the hospital are unvaxed. It seems they are also predicting a football surge in the next couple weeks as well.
If another surge happens they will probably pause outpatient elective surgery. When that happens I will have to lay off half my staff…again.

It is a real mess. It's even worse in parts of Idaho where some hospitals are enacting "crisis standards of care," basically enacting triage medicine and withholding care or minimizing some care for those with a poor prognosis.
I would hate to be a physician thrust into that role.

Hospitals need to limit the number of beds allocated to

those who elected to not get the vaccine.
Wait in your car until a bed frees up.
I have zero, and I mean zero, sorrow for anyone who could have gotten the vaccine and decided not to. They are a very selfish and unpatriotic group of people.

my sympathy for the family that is left behind with a death and huge hospital bills is still here.
And I have family members like this.
I told my sister in law last night that if something happened to her two sons or her(she's a widow) making them orphans or them dying themselves is the most selfish thing she has ever done. Also called her stupid a lot.
I'm done with this crap.
If a person doesn't get vaxed, hospitals should be able to turn them around at the door and tell them to go home.

There are addictions people have that affect their weight, their health, etc - yes we need to help them as much as we can - here we have a vaccine PEOPLE THAT REFUSE THE HELP.
We have a shot to help - they don't want it. FUUUUCCCKK them.

If the ICUs are at 100%, wouldn't that shut down sports?

Everyone's used to the ambulance parked under the scoreboard under Friday night lights, but where is it going to go?

I hope there’s no sports injuries that require the ICU…

Yeah. That happens like every week. Everywhere. So common in fact that we should reserve beds for football since we know it will happen everywhere this weekend.

Hundreds of thousands end up in the ER every year

due to sports injuries. ERs are also full.
God help them if it's a head or neck injury.
So again, if the ambulance is available, where is it going to go?

You said “ If the ICUs are at 100%, wouldn't that shut down sports?”
ICU does not equal ER.
Ambulances don’t take people to the ICU but they will take them to the ER.

It’s a calculation small and large athletic departments will have to make.
