D1 head coach and had a good team last year too. They have to be paying him a lot to leave there. The Summit is a decent mid major conference.
This must be part of the promises with higher budget for the bkball program from Neff.

Yes, but as an assistant he has always done a good job.

Larry was a very good assistant. Look what he did while at Florida, but he was a bad HC...

He has only been there three years, which included changing conferences. He is doing a good job there and wasn’t in jeopardy of losing his job.

Your post makes it sound like he isn’t doing well there.

His head coaching experience will be valuable as an assistant for us, in terms of the coaching part as well as the recruiting part.

Again here's the story on Donlon leaving KC. This is similar of a group of 5 or FCS HC in football stepping down to be a cordinator at a power conference school. You just don't see that unless $$$$:
