It's obvious we're not what we used to be, but no one is. If you look at all teams the NIL and portal have made it VERY difficult to be THE elite team. There's not one team that's just dominating. If there's a silver lining over the last two seasons it's that it's not just us. Parity is making it very interesting. As bad as we think it is, we could be Oklahoma, or FSU, but we're not.

I'd say Oregon and Ohio State are pretty much dominating. Outside of their extremely close game, they're butchering everyone.

But I do agree that the portal has improved competitive balance in college football. I don't know that that's a good thing or a good metric though.

It’s not just the portal as teams like GT and Old Miss can now pull elite HS recruits using their NIL. Unfortunately we are no longer getting elite recruits from either venue

The portal and NIL have given us teams like UGA


They are unbeatable when they all decide to play good. But they are inconsistent.


Perhaps Cade will play with more consistency next season and that will be Clemson’s formula to win a national championship over those other (rudderless) teams stacked from NIL.

I wish Cade had red shirted his freshman season. He could have played in 4 games plus the ACC-CG and Orange Bowl and still redshirted.
