double, the next batter sac bunted to move runner to 3rd. The next batter ran the count to full...Millie threw a beautiful pitch that appeared to hit the corner (too close to take) but the ump called it a ball so runner to 1st...then immediately to 2nd w/ 1 out. With runners @ 2nd & 3rd, our infield is playing in and the next batter steps up and gets a hit up the middle plating 2.
One pitch....if that last pitch to the 3rd batter is called a strike, we're sitting with a runner at 3rd and 2 outs. The infield is playing normal depth with 2 outs and the "hit" up the middle is a routine play for Cammy for the 3rd out.
That's just the way baseball and softball work...so many times it's that one pitch, one play, one error, etc. that can change the game.
Who knows what would have happened had we gone to the T6 w/ score tied at 0. The Cowgirls pitcher was dealing and we were helping her by swinging at balls off the plate. Hats off to OSU, they were the better team last night.
Now let's go TiGirls...win the next two!

I concur! I have thought about that today. I didn't narrow it down to 1 pitch but I kept thinking a couple of off pitches in 1 inning and it cost us the game. Girls played great for the most part minus getting the ball in play. Hope they rock tonight and bring us to game 3 tie breaker! Lets go Clemson Gurls!!
I guess girls isn't politically correct, but so what! Let's go gurls!

Agreed
That sequence in the 5th inning was the game. We had runners in scoring position at times and could not get them in.
We played a very good team and lost. Let’s get game 2 tonight.

Spot on @tigermaniac.
2nd guessing Rittman a bit. Given the call we didn't get, once the runner on first went to 2nd, I think he should have loaded the bases and then played regular depth. Perhaps. Who knows what might have happened. Maybe turned a double play on that grounder? Gone to get the force at home.
Anyway, just makes it harder. Get them tonight, tomorrow is anyone's game.

If you only have 2 hits and don’t score a run it doesn’t matter what the pitcher did. We have the pitching to move on but not the hitting against good pitching.
