UNC gets in? 14 SEC teams get in? What a joke. Let’s stop all the non sense and just have a bigger tournament. Let’s just add another week and expand the tournament to 256 teams and let them play. Cut out a week of the regular season and expand the tournament.

How about just let every D1 team play?

There are 352 D1 basketball teams. The season length is up to 15 weeks. All teams could play 3 early opponents of their choosing over the first 3 weeks of the season as a preliminary start and then begin tournament play. Any loss and you're out.

After week 5 there would be 11 teams remaining, which would require a 3-team round robin, the result of which might be obvious, but possibly a nightmare for determining a winner (sor of like our present selection committee operation).

At the end of the 12 week tournament period, we would likely have a winner.

If there was a lot of controversy around the winner of the round robin, the 2 round robin losers could play each other in week 9 or 10 and that winner could play the 12-week winner just to make sure everybody got a fair shot at the title.
