Ok so do Tigernet reporters just place the "5 star" tag

on every commit we get? Do they mean "Potential 5 star?" The past 4 commits have all been touted (by Tigernet) as 5 stars but when you look at their individual ranks by recruiting services (rivals,247,espn) they are never actually 5 stars... Not that it really matters i'm happy we have them, ecstatic that we have them! But why we got to lie Craig... ?
The funniest one was the punter..after seeing that he was billed as a 5 star (only on T-net) I was like...they're just messing with us now...... We don't need to be click-baited guys. We'll click the link regardless to see who the next Tiger superstar is... I think it makes us look real desperate when we over-report like this. Just my humble opinion.

It’s cuz there’s so many lurkers right now. Coots, bucknuts, puppy’s, wahoos, turkeys, coal miners…and on and on. They’re all here to cry and whine on our boards. They only read the headlines and then go and spread that news throughout their inner circle lamenting about how great we are and they hate us cuz they ain’t us.

I am not a reporter for TgNet but if I may. First Jeadyn Lukus is a 5 star according to the 257 Sports Composite ranking, Keon Sabb was a 5 star until like two days before he committed when his ranking took a hit because of limited film, Daylen Everette is ranked 24th by Top 247, while not a techinical 5 star the way 247 does things he will be a 5 star at the end of the cycle if he just holds his rank.
Second the punter is a 5 star according to Kohl's site, which just ranks punters, kickers, and snappers. Hope that helps!

(Thanks for what you do). The BIGGEST injustice is the fact that Cade is still a 4 star.

I agree with that completely. He got really close last time the rankings were updated because of his showing at the Elite 11, I think he will get there eventually.

MVP of the Elite 11 (check)
Beats #1 HS player (Toledo State 5* QB commit - Billy Ray Ewers) head-to-head on the biggest HS football stage in the country. (check)
HTF is he NOT a 5 star already? Curious as to what the reason might be other than he committed to Clemson.

Already answered in the thread here but a summary:
Jeadyn Lukus doesn't have an individual 5-star ranking but he is listed as a 5-star by the 247Sports Composite ranking of industry ratings - https://247sports.com/Season/2022-Football/CompositeRecruitRankings/2022 Top Football Recruits The 247Sports rankings are determined by our recruiting analysts after countless hours of personal observations, film evaluation and input from our network of scouts.
Kickers/punters aren't rated like other prospects by the main sites but there are individual kicking sites that do that sort of thing:
Kohl's Kicking has Jackson Smith as a 5-star - https://kohlskicking.com/national-player-ratings/punters/2022

I'm glad to get him, but let's face it, Kohl's is pretty liberal with their stars. The have 100 kickers rated at 4.5 stars or better.

Just wanting to know if i'm missing something..i'm no expert

I just know that five stars are hard to come by (Trevor/Deshaun/Sammy) and its very rare to get commitments from that elite crowd. So when i go to see if they're 5 stars across the board on all 3 recruiting services and then i see all have them as 4 stars across the board i'm puzzled as to why we're calling them 5 stars. Mistakes happen and i'm prone to my share for sure. But every time? I just had to ask what the deal was. Make no mistake, a 4 star players can turn into Deandre Hopkins (best receiver in the NFL) so 4 star is just as good in my book. I'll take a 4 star all day long. But as we all know 5 stars are hard to come by for any team. And if you're getting commits from 4 (5 stars) in a row i was thinking this has gotta some kinda record class. So you see my confusion.
BTW I read the explanations above and understand the composite rankings,etc.. so i'm satisfied and got my answer.

I think that the issue is that the Clemson staff do not mention the 247 composite ranking in their own writeup. So when you see, in their own write-up, that a recruit is listed as a four star by 247, ESPN and Rivals and there is no mention of the five star composite rating, it is natural to wonder why the player is being called a five star in the title. This should be easily correctible - just add the composite rating in your write-ups.

I just check the player Avg. on 24/7 and Clemson this morning is 2nd this morning with an Avg. Player ranking of 94.0 for the class of 2022. I think that tells much more than ******'s

24/7 and Rivals both have him ranked as a 4 star.
Who cares? Only UGA fans care about recruiting rankings. Did we get a kid who can play ball and that the coaching staff wanted? Then its a great pick up.
