6 season, Tommy West has the fewest number of losses. Not too bad.

Tommy West's team were was 31-28 (.525)

Danny Ford's teams were 51-15-2 during his first 6 years.

Tommy Bowden was 44-30 over his first six years (.594). More losses but a better winning percentage

Dabo was 57-23 after his first 6 full seasons (.713)

Frank Howard was 28-24-3 after his first 6 season

There were a lot fewer rules when Howard was coach... and those rules had a lot of wiggle room because the rule makers assumed "everybody" knew what the rules meant. Coach Howard gleefully skirted the intent and did what he thought best. And at the time, that type of behavior was applauded.

God bless Coach Howard... what a legend.
