OC?

I can’t be the only one on here who feels that we need to go out and hire a proven OC. #### even bring Chad back…. It sickens me to see Dabo playing this promote from within crap when someone like South Carolina is about to go out and hire Kendall Briles or Garrett Riley as their next OC. What are we doing here? I want to get back to the offenses of 2014 to 2018.

That’s a hard pass on Chad for me.
Maybe, just maybe, we could try the OC we have now but with a QB that doesn’t throw 80 mph knuckle balls at his receivers ?

I’m a No on the Chad as well. Either bring back Jeff Scott or go get the best $ can buy. Regardless, Street needs to hit the road. I’ve defended him for most of the year because I’m sure DJs limited skill set limits his options but honestly he only needed 2 options to win Saturday, Shipley or Mafah, and he chose neither. Add that to his pouty, childish press conference and I’m ready to be done with him.

Fair point on Streeter. I admittedly have not watched any of his press conferences, especially the one after last Saturday. Part of me wonders how much autonomy he has been allowed by Dabo.

Clemson fans deserve better than the product we have watched for 2 yrs. Dont know names, but watching a lot of football this year and some is probably the HC but there are teams I would look at especially with HC's moving on.
Cincinnati, Tulane, UCF, Memphis and SMU have been scoring machines this year. Again I don't know who they are but have scored playing tempo with good passing schemes.
Dabo used to seem to have his eyes on good coaches, maybe he can surprise us with great hires like he did with CBV.
No coach has hired more DCs and OCs over the last 10yrs than Saban and he has kept his team competitive the entire time. Dabo can do the same of his horse doesnt get too high!

It's better for Dabo's exponentially growing ego to prove that he is a better judge of talent than every other coaching staff on the planet. You don't see Saban trying that crap - he hires the best and replaces and upgrades as needed.

Let's say you are a "proven" OC . A mercenary gun for hire That means you are in demand and ether have a pile of $$ in the bank or know you have a lot of options. You are going to command $$$$$, but also authority and autonomy.. That includes offensive staffing, scheme and blocking changes, and in game play calling.
Not a simple thing.

A talented up and comer OC will require a reasonable level of autonomy -- not a bad scenario in Clemson's current position.

We shouldn't hire a new OC this year....we should have done it last year. Dabo should have done a national search and brought in some new blood to revive our offense....which was dead last in the pathetic ACC.
But I wouldn't want Morris back. Go look at his record vs UofSC.
