Anybody concerned that Clemson has yet to hit a HR yet? Yes, I know they were playing in a big ballpark, but that didn’t seem to bother Ole Miss today. Most of their HRs were bombs. I like they are scoring without the HR but just wondering if we should be concerned at all? Any thoughts?

I feel like we lack some pop from losing obertop, Wright, Hinderleider, and mathes but Preist, Gaffney, Bisseta, should make up for some of that and maybe Paino

Yeah I think that will come… I hope third day pitching and quality relief will also arrive. Team has lots of potential but these appear to be the holes to be filled. Super small sample size tho so this may be a non problem problem

We threw trash out for pitching. I hope that doesn’t mean that we don’t have Sunday depth.

I am much more concerned with pitching since pitching is what really hurt us last year.

Surprised by it, yes but not concerned.
26 runs through 25 innings without a long ball is a good sign.

I don’t think we need to be concerned yet though. It’s only been 3 games and I would say if anything it’s probably more of a relief that we’re scoring so much without the long ball so far.

Not at all. Exit velo was incredibly high. Anyone that played baseball knows the difference between a home run and extra base hit or base hit is less than a mm. Just keep putting good swings on the ball and the home runs will come.

Depending on Home Runs to score makes manufacturing runs an impossibility. Monteball has already been tried here and it failed. We saw how the entire team swinging for the fences on every at bat was a rally killer in the past. The team this year hits a lotsa line drives so home runs will automatically come when we get into the college ballparks. Plus, they look like a crowd that can run and make things happen and should be an exciting team to watch. A bit more tweeking of the lineup and if pitching comes through, then this could be a really good team.

Park Comparison

|
|
Globe Life Left Field: 329 Ft DKS Left Field: 320 Ft
Globe Life Left Center: 372 Ft DKS Left Center 370 Ft
Globe Life Center: 407-410 Ft DKS Center: 400 Ft
Globe Life Right Center: 374 Ft DKS Right Center: 375 Ft
Globe Life Right: 326 Ft DKS Right: 330 Ft.
Globe Life has some odd dimensions, the Right Field # in particular is deceiving... in general - Globe Life Plays a little bigger than DKS.
I'm not sure it will make a huge difference, but the exit velo's and ability to get lots of hits bode very well. We definitely need to find a 3rd starter unless that was just an off game. We're going to win A LOT of games this year. Hopefully be able to host a Super.

I don't think we see anyone putting up Wright or Wagner numbers this season, but Gaffney and Priest have 15+ home run power and Bissetta and Cannarella could be in that range as well but should at least be in the double digits. Pepper in a half dozen or so bombs from from Purify, Paino, and Jarrell and we'll be ok.
