My game day tradition of complaining about Munson

He heard the phrase early in the game that the out was “a turf out” because of a hop that turned out to be an easy play
Now every out is a turf out according to Munson lol
Just painfully obvious that he’s clueless and never played any sports only watched and repeating stuff he’s heard
If this team is going to take the next step and get back to Omaha they have to get rid of Munson LOL

Haha I hear you 100% on the HASH comment. He pronounces the hell out of that word anytime it is said regardless of situation.
Reminds me of the Ron Smith guy on the tv broadcasts for home baseball games who says REAAAALLY, REEEEAAAALLY every third sentence. Maybe it's just me, but I find it annoying as hell. Every baseball game that guy calls is somehow filled with something remarkable that happens every 30 seconds. Dude needs a thesaurus so he doesn't have to say REEEAAALLLY so much.

Munson latterly said tigers were leading 3-1 when he meant to say VT was leading 3-1.

Don doesn't even know the names of the Clemson players. Doesn't know who is leading, Doesn't know what inning, it's just embarrassing.

He needs a mute button, so when he has to sneeze or cough we don't have to hear it.

He regularly talks about how he wishes the game would hurry up and be over. Complains about his time at the park. Maybe that’s something a lot of announcers do but I enjoy the games bugs me that he talks about wishing they would hurry up and be over

He’s not a great announcer at anything but he is TERRIBLE at baseball. I wish they would give Qualk baseball.

He has no reason to be our play by play guy when we have had reputable people in the past. Just terrible.

I doubt the precious roar will do anything. Qualk would be ideal. But of course Munson probably gets dibs on all bc he is or thinks he is the voice of the tigers now

I don't think The Roar radio station has anything to do with it or call the shots when it comes to the broadcasts. I thought the Clemson Radio Network was owned by JMI Sports and Clemson.

He is the Director of Broadcasting for Clemson and appointed himself the play-by-play voice. He's big buddies with Dabo. He has been from day one. He's an extraordinarily good schmooze artist and brown Noser. He fired Pete Yanity so he could take the position. It was extremely humiliating for Clemson University.

but this is exactly right. The way he got the job is still shady to this day. And Dabo indeed played a role in it

Do you think him firing Pete and hiring himself is accurate?

I mean, do you think he auditioned for the job? He was promoted to Director broadcasting, and put himself in the position.

Maybe something to that …
I’ve only met Don one time years ago before his Clemson gig and he seemed like a good guy.
Have a friend who was close to Don before he got the Clemson gig and said he changed from a humble guy to very arrogant and aloof.

I’m so glad to see this post getting attention

I don’t know if I didn’t pay enough attention before Don. I don’t know if he had clout in Clemson circles before getting the job.
From my perspective, Don Munson never did anything to deserve his role. I was in school from 2006-2010 and always thought Pete Yanity was a great fit (granted I grew up in the Upstate and he was my local sports director as a kid, so I don’t know if this was a familiarity thing for me). I was SHOCKED when Pete was fired for Don and I’ve never gotten over it. Don is smug and just seems like a Dabo patsy.
Give me “There’s Orange in the Endzone” all day.
We can do better and deserve better.

As long as Dabo is at Clemson, Munson will keep his job. For better or worse, Dabo takes care of his friends. There was no excuse for how Yannity was treated.
