Can’t we all get along?!
Covid is impacting everyone. And yes, even Clemson and Clemson football, which is why so many of us are here arguing.
PLEASE …. No insults, No screaming “not Clemson football related”, which is nonsense based on news stories on TNet. And Please don’t go crying to Crump, etc. to move this. IMO, it is important that EVERYONE gains a better perspective!
Watch these short videos and put aside your politics and listen to a doctor that is the most rational, reasonable, and nuanced voice I have seen regarding Covid. He is providing much-needed context and perspective from both an American and international viewpoint!
He doesn’t mention it in the first video, but he has practiced medicine in Australia and Is now living and practicing in Massachusetts.
He has treated and is treating many patients with Covid and he himself has had Covid.
I have no idea what his politics are. But I believe when you see this first video you will realize what a unique perspective he has and see what an incredibly reasonable, rational, and nuanced view he brings to the conversation.
If only our politicians and the leaders of our institutions, including Clemson, had half the knowledge and common sense of this doctor!
I don’t expect everyone to watch all of these videos now. Watch the first few and see what an amazing perspective this doctor has and come back and watch more later when you have time.

In this next video he makes some incredibly salient points! Honestly, what he is talking about is the approach that would’ve been taken 10 years ago absolutely 20+ years ago. But we live in irrational times! History will not be kind to our response to Covid.

Of the posts on the main board. The majority of posts on the football board have nothing to do with football or Clemson.
By the way, the main board, is the football board. That’s why people post on there. It is the main board.
There should be only one board. You shouldn’t have to jump from board to board to read what other Clemson people are posting.

So when you’re shopping and an item you want isn’t in the right location do you buy it?
When you are in the library or a bookstore and you’re looking up information and a book you need isn’t catalogued the proper way do you ignore the book?

Near zero reading comprehension.
I have posted repeatedly the only type of mask that works is a properly fitted surgical mask and an N 95 mask. But they do not work nearly as effectively as you think and for every study you post I can post 10 more that say the opposite. The efficacy of mask wearing is highly suspect and controversial. The data is all over the place.
And again, what percentage of people actually wear a surgical mask or an N 95 mask? Answer: very few! The vast overwhelming majority of people wearing a mask are not wearing those type of masks! And they don’t work if you don’t wear them properly. And they have minimal effectiveness in a confined space over an extended period of time.
You totally misunderstand the studies from regarding the Spanish flu. People between the ages of 27 and 29 were especially hard hit. That is true. But it wasn’t because they had natural immunity to various flu viruses. It’s because they were born during that previous pandemic and it did weird stuff to their immune system. Therefore they were especially susceptible to the Spanish flu.

Exposure to an influenza virus at a young age increases resistance to a subsequent infection with the same or a similar virus. On the flip side, a person who is a child around the time of a pandemic may not be resistant to other, dissimilar viruses. Flu viruses fall into groups that are related evolutionarily. The virus that circulated when Adolfo was a baby was likely in what is called “Group 2,” whereas the 1918 virus was in “Group 1.” Adolfo would therefore not be expected to have a good ability to respond to this “Group 1” virus. In fact, exposure to the “Group 2” virus as a young child may have resulted in a dysfunctional response to the “Group 1” virus in 1918, exacerbating his condition.
Support for this hypothesis was seen with the emergence of the Hong Kong flu virus in 1968. It was in “Group 2” and had severe effects on people who had been children around the time of the 1918 “Group 1” flu.

So clearly you didn't read the mask study
1) yes of course an N95 in a secure and best environment is best. Without a doubt
2) surgical masks work well even if not worn correctly
3) cloth masks work as well even if not worn correctly
This was a massive study overseen by Stanford doctors (I know how you love Stanford doctors) with control groups and over sight. And specifically addressing covid. So the point is this ... I can read. I have read. Can you? Can you admit that even in not an ideal scenario masks for provide protection?
- natural immunity: if you read what I wrote it is this ... Natural immunity provides benefits against exist forms of covid. Yes. Absolutely. I agree. But how long does it last? How does it provide protection over time? What happens when a virus uses that fact against you?
That's the point. So can you slow your roll a bit? Jesus Christ. I surprised you don't have a heart attack Everytime you type.

So what if we don’t know for sure how much or how well masks stop COVID?!? This is a worldwide pandemic man. Millions of people have died from this virus. Even if we think something as simple as masks might work, we should be wearing them!
But no, we have a huge portion of our “don’t tread on me” populace that has spent the last year and a half trying to prove that masks don’t work and that we shouldn’t wear them. You know, because “muh freedoms!” You seem like one of these people, based on your posts.
I honestly don’t understand that. You shouldn’t need absolute proof that masks work in order to wear them. You should care enough about you health and the health of others to wear the freaking mask, simply because it might work.

I also routinely post real data from the CDC along with statistical analysis.
When I post the YouTube videos they are of independent journalists, people that are well respected and award-winning independent journalists, as well as respected more times than not liberal or progressive scientists, intellectuals and thought leaders, and academics.
It doesn’t matter whether it’s in Sanskrit, stone tablets, a book in the library, or a YouTube video. Credible information from credible sources is relevant regardless of the format.
