Most unexpected player to play

Football at Clemson. Interesting post about underrated but who surprised you. A couple of clear choices: ETN and Hunter Renfrow. Everyone had there eyes on Feaster and ETN stole the show. Similarly, RayRay and Deon were the hot recruits, and Renfrow was able to come in and make an unexpected splash.

Who is your most unexpected player?

DJU. It was unexpected that he would not be very good.***

Nolan Turner. Dabo was chastised for bringing him in as a favor for a former teammate and he is in the league now.

Obed Ariri... he didn't even know what football was. He thought the football stadium was where they played soccer.

And followed by Donald Igwebuike who is still the fourth leading all time scorer for Tampa Bay
Both were due to Danny Ford's reluctance to award a scholarship to a kicker. He would simply go get a kicker from the soccer team. Btw we had some #### good soccer teams back then so he had plenty to pick from

Rob Bodine! Exceptionally small for NG but tenacious.***

Warren Ratchford- skinnier than some runway models, but was a fearless RB

Ryan Carter, Tommy Sharpe. Philip Price. Even Skalski. Nobody could see the impact he would have had on the field

little used running back at Clemson named Don Testerman. Some way, some how, he got drafted in the TENTH round of the 1976 NFL draft by the Dolphins. He got traded twice before ever playing, and wound up in Seattle. He actually was the "original" starting fullback for the Seattle Seahawks franchise for the 1977-78 seasons.

I realize this is kind of an opposite offshoot of the OP's question, but Testerman always stuck in my mind as being the most amazing story of an ex-Clemson player having success in the NFL, after NOT playing much for us.

Andre Branch was a nice surprise as many thought he was just a package deal if I remember right (or could be mixing up some other DE -- memory is hazy).

Adam Humphries also developed into a good slot receiver despite being another perceived "package deal" guy.

Vic Beasley was position-less for a couple years and Dabo even wrote down he couldn't win with players like him...to only come on later and capture the all-time sack record and be a top 10 1st round pick.

Grady Jarrett rising from 2 star to one of the more dominant undersized DTs in college and pro football.

Honorable mention: I enjoyed watching CJ Davidson rise up from Walk on to starting RB even though he didn't hold on to the spot

Those are definitely solid choices. Wayne Gallman is also in that category of speculative packaged deal guys that turned out great.
