More proof that Dabo knows what he is talking about

This morning I was searching for an online Masters program for teaching. I live in Columbia (insert comments here) and I know that Clemson does not have an online Masters program for Education. I googled USC online Masters of Education and went to the first site. It was listed as http://rossieronline.usc.edu. I filled out the information sheet and got and email from University of Southern California. Apparently even Google agrees with Dabo. And please don't make any snide remarks about me checking into USuC's program. I am already sufficiently ashamed for stooping so low.

My wife completed her Masters in Information and Library Science at USuC. I am very proud of her, but it could have been somewhere else. When my daughter and I attended the graduation ceremony, she asked what we should do when the school song was so. Her and I just continued to do the C-L-E-M-S-OOOOOO-N in a whisper until it was over. Oh yea, my daughter and I both wore Clemson T-shirts under our dress clothes. You can take a Tiger out of Clemson, but you can't take the Clemson out of a Tiger!

Check again, my friend. CU offers quite a few online graduate degrees at your convenience. My wife just began an online Master's Degree this fall at Clemson, and we live in Wake Forest. She's pursuing a MHRD (Human Resource Development). Which, by the way Clemson has the number 1 HRD online degree in the nation. Yet another reason why TigerNation stands heads and shoulders above the rest. :)

I saw that Clemson offered several online Master's degrees. However, I am looking for a degree in School Administration. Unfortunately, Clemson does not offer this program online.

If you'll just drive slowly by the Registrar's Office with your window down they'll assume you're attending and toss a degree in the car. Not sure what it will be worth. It will have "The University of South Carolina" across the top so anyone who knows anything about education will consider it useless. Go Tigers!

USC (Southern Cal) actually sued South Carolina over the use of the "USC" nickname...And even the courts agreed that the real USC was in California. And it was upheld at every level up until the supreme court which wouldn't hear it.

I'm not sure what the case settled since both still use the USC moniker but in accordance with the US legal system the real USC is in California.

Don't really care about the log either way but from a factual standpoint...

South Carolina was founded in 1801

Southern Cal founded 1880

That alone tells me which one should be able to use the letters. I guess it came out both could use the letters because they are after all just letters

When that school opened in Columbia it was named
South Carolina College, not USC. I'm not sure when
the name was changed.

The University of South Carolina (i.e. South Carolina College) was chartered as such in 1906, even though they were legally the University of South Carolina from 1865-1877, during Reconstruction. Since the University of Southern California was chartered, under that name in 1880, and have been under that name since then, they have the right to the USC logo, by logic and law! UNC was chartered by that name in 1789, while South Carolina College was chartered in 1801. Thus Dabo was absolutely correct in his rant about "USC being in California, and Carolina being in Chapel Hill". He was mistaken about the university part, because Clemson was not chartered as such until 1964.

Just an update. I got a call from an admissions counselor. She identified herself as calling from USC and said on voicemail that she was calling to see if she could help me with more information about University of Southern California. Maybe I will call her back and give her Spurrier's number so she can set him straight :)
