College tennis does their individual season in the fall. So while it does not affect the team record in the spring, it does give us a good sense of how good our team may be this year based on fall results.

So for this year we have 2 key new players:

- Romain Gales, France, junior transfer who played #3 and #4 for a top 30 VCU team.

- Viktor Markov, Bulgaria. Freshman

Gales will contribute in the middle of the lineup while Markov could slide in toward the bottom.

We also have Nathan Pitts joining the team to join his brother Matt on the team.

Fall Schedule:

Sept. 13-15 - Southern Intercollegiates - Athens, GA
Sept. 21-29 - ITA All-American Championships - Tulsa, OK
Oct. 4-6 - Mercer Invitational - Mercer, GA
Oct. 10-15 - ITA Regionals - Cary, NC
Nov. 1-3 - Wake Forest Tournament - Winston-Salen, NC
Nov. 7-10 - ITA Sectionals - Tallahassee, FL
Nov. 19-24 - NCAA Individual Championships - Waco, TX

Wissam Abderrahman comes back as a Sophomore this year and is ranked #51 in the preseason ITA rankings which ould be good enough to be in the 64 player NCAA individual championships draw. It would be big for him to have a big fall and take the reigns as our leading #1 player and hopefully a top 50 player nationally.

It will also be vital for Noa Vukadin and Marko Mesarovic to make big strides in their 2nd years as they need to step up to become solid #2 and #3 players for the team.

I'll be monitoring these fall results to see how the players look. But at the end of the day they are not the most important thing in the world. Some of the top players in the country skip fall season entirely. I have seen players who were did great in fall not do so well in Spring and vice versa.
