Clemson team on a winning percentage basis. The 1986/1987 team finished 25-6 which is 80.645%.
This year's team, currently 27-6, will have a 7th loss barring a national championship. So the possible percentages will be:
27-7 with a first round loss - 79.412% 28-7 with a second round loss - 80.000% 29-7 with a Sweet Sixteen loss - 80.556% 30-7 with an Elite Eight loss - 81.081%
And just for fun: 31-7 with a Final Four loss - 81.579% 32-7 with a NCCG loss - 82.051% 33-6 with a National Championship - 84.615%
A 30 win season would be an incredible accomplishment, mediocre ACC or not. And it will be needed to replace Horace Grant, Michael Tait, Jerry Pryor, Anthony Jenkins, Elden Campbell, Larry Middleton, Grayson Marshall, etc as the best team ever since the '86/'87 team finished 2nd in a stronger ACC and 13th in the final AP poll. Grant probably agrees with me.
