Maybe DJ won't run cause he is worried about his NFL chances

And perhaps Clemson sold him during recruitment that he would be pro-style only and not have to run a lot and risk getting hurt.
I'm wondering if other programs refused to rule out him running and that helped Clemson get him.
Also wondering if Big Dave requested that he not be run a lot.
I didn't want to believe this, but I don't see any other reason.
Because when you look at his build, it makes zero sense why he doesn't run more. He's a Cam Newton clone. He may lack Lawrence and Watson's quickness, but he can bulldoze any DB and be an even match vs most OLBs.
This has got to change or he's a recruiting bust IMO. Dude has got to run some to keep the D honest and open up the playbook.

because TF is not 100% yet and if DJ does get hurt, there really isn't a serviceable back-up.

Based on what we have seen so far, DJ will never play a down in the NFL. He may not even get offered a chance at a scout team position.

It’s not that he doesn’t want to run, he has and doesn’t shy from contact, but only an called runs. He just isn’t able to feel the rush and act appropriately right now. That may be taking off, or just shifting 5 ft. He’s too used to standing there and shrugging anyone off that gets through.

Unless he moves to tight end, he will never play a down in the NFL. He should give Logan Thomas a call.
