I arrived in cootlumbia at 1:30 pm on Saturday wondering what the day would be like. At every turn I got the normal finger, F… Clemson and Clemson S…, from all of the coots. I could tell that they knew that this was the year the streak would be broken. I watched the Bama Auburn and Florida FSU games and thought how could the coots have ever been in those games with Auburn and Florida much less have won them and I am sure those games gave the coots fans confidence. Did trouble await the Tigers in Willy B? The Tigers struggled to win all year. Dabo had previous said that the Tigers were a wounded dog on the side of the road, but it appeared that the Tigers had turned the corner by winning their last 4 games and with a strong showing against #10 Wake.
All of those questions were answered in a resounding way by the end of the game. The Tigers are 9-3 and this might be one of the best years for the Tigers under Dabo. The Tigers were down and out but Dabo kept believing in his coaches and players. One game at a time things started to fall into place. We may not be going to the ACCCG or the playoffs but this is one of the most gratifying seasons I have witnessed. I know there have been better seasons as far as records and Championships but that’s what makes this season so great. This team could have decided to throw in the towel but they finished strong.
And as far as one game I would say the win Saturday night was one of the most gratifying wins that I have witnessed because the coots hopes went out the window as soon as the game started and witnessing all of the taillights by the third quarter which meant they probably began leaving at halftime. And I have attended a lot Clemson games over the last 5 decades. Many of those games have been great wins for Clemson and some tough loses. I witnessed Clemson’s win over South Carolina in 1974 to complete an undefeated home schedule, 1977 lost to Notre Dame when we gave Dan Devine the silent treatment (maybe one of the best games in Death Valley). The first orange pants game in 1980 against South Carolina, Georgia 1981, 1986 at Georgia and 1987 Georgia game with David Treadwell last second field goals, 1988 FSU puntrooskie, and National Championship games in Tampa and Santa Clara. There are several others but I am sure you get the point.
The Coots have got to be experiencing a Manic Monday as they usually do on the Monday after getting their tails waxed by the Tigers.

It is a 69 Camaro that I drive to some home games. I use to drive it in front of Clemson band during the pre-game parade from 2001 thru 2012.
