Making the dance this year

Apr 21, 2021, 10:43 AM

Matt Connolly tweeted that both commits this week talked about how the Tigers making the tournament this year was big for them. I know we were disappointed we lost the game but it seems making the tournament is more important to recruiting than the early exit.

I agree. It helps a lot.

Everyone knows that this year was crazy, so the fact that we made it despite the pandemic and having two COVID pauses says something.

The ACC is still viewed as an elite conference by most recruits, and our success in the ACC carries a lot of weight.

Absolutely
It would also help the fans and their support.

Say what you want about OP and his dance record. He got invites and we remember his exciting play and going to the dance - more than losing in the dance. (Which he clearly did.)

If BB goes on 3 or 4 year streak - a lot of negativity would go away. IMO anyway.

if he did it with an inside game - I would become a convert. Lol. I keep begging for it. Maybe someday.

Not sure the negative type fans will ever support CBB as they seem invested in his failure regardless of what happens on the court. Seems they want to be right more than they want basketball success

Maybe. I can only speak for me. While not a hater, I simply am of the opinion that it is time for a change. 11 is enough and would like some excitement come back like when I was there. 77-81. If BB stays, I still support and don’t complain about specific losses. Trends maybe. But that is what fans do. It is never enough. Like in football. Now, getting into playoffs is expected and the natty is the goal. I try to never get personal - there are plenty here who do and that is sad.

Winning solves a lot and would turn around most - first from negative - to neutral - to supporters. (As long as it is consistent - or semi consistent (3 out of 4) or something like that.

JMO anyway.

always back to the 11 years without a single bit of context. Was our program turn key in year one ready for success? Or did CBB need to rebuild a roster to run a completely different style of basketball while raising funds to build a decent players facility? Year 7 i believe was spent playing at the Well while LJ was being rebuilt. 11 years is way too long had the program been prepared for success in year one but that was not the case. A reasonable person would understand that we are essentially in year 12 -7 = 5. Since the new facility we have trended up in recruiting and also in NCAA appearances.

CBB is not a fast talking, smoke and mirrors, quick fix coach. He does things the old fashioned way with integrity. He seems fully invested in the Clemson job which is rare as we are not a destination program.

Spot on. I’ve said this a million times before. After brownell first year (where he actually won an ncaa tourney game unlike OP) the roster that OP left him was crap. It wasn’t a winning roster.
