Standing in the hurricanes on TV started i 1961 with Dan Rather and Hurricane Carla, in Galveston, Texas.
He was there in the Galveston National Hurricane Center live on TV with his local Houston TV live crew. They we inside the center (No Windows) interviewing meteorologist and showing those old CRT radar screens on black and white TV.

BORING on TV as watching paint dry, while the storm approached outside. Dan decided to take the crew outside and stand in he wind and rain. CBS was so impressed, they hired him as a National correspondent. He reported from storms, riots and Vietnam. He became a left-wing activist journalist that was a great liar for his causes. Sounds like Jim Cantore is following in Dan's footsteps.

Good luck with the rain in SC and be safe. Remember to help your neighbors.

Sorry, but he lost all credibility when that happened on video a few years back.

This isn’t going to be a big wind event. Flooding will be the issue with this storm.

And the fact that it is not blowing that hard probably means the rain hangs

Reports that I heard on the news this morning said the winds would be a continuous 80 MPH winds with gust up over a 100. That's more than enough to get me heading to a much calmer place to sit and watch on the TV!!!

Only 15-20 around me here in the Burg, so far, thank goodness.

And, only 1 3/4 inches or rain as well. Lots of short bursts coming and going, but not much total volume of water.

so you believe them is stupid. One day something unfortunate is going to happen one of them. And to me Cantore comes across as an overbearing huckster reporting "bad" weather.

I saw him on the beach in Nags Head years ago when he first came on the scene and couldn’t believe how short he was, maybe 5’7” on a good day.
