Keystone cops

Feb 16, 2020, 11:03 AM

My wife and I have season tickets to the major sports and always arrive very early to games. Yesterday, having a lot 5 pass, we planted ourselves in the lot at 11 am. At about 12 noon the lot attendants placed barricades across the entrance. Some vehicles without passes were allowed in and some with passes were not. The barricades were placed in such a way that each vehicle had to stop, provide the secret handshake and password, and then by the grace of God, perhaps were allowed to pass. If so, the barricades were moved back in place.

One vehicle slipped through an opening on the side and was chased down by an older attendant. I suspect that visitors from the many schools participating in this busy weekend were forced to find parking wherever and take a long walk back to their chosen venue. One of the attendants finally removed the sign indicating "baseball parking". I'm sure the attendants try to do their job to the best of their abilities, but yesterday was not good for the image of Clemson athletics. They were not ready or properly trained for such a busy weekend.

The story that you're telling is, being perfect all the time just can't be attained, even at Clemson. Go Tigers!!!

Don't knock the secret handshake and password, I used to park on Fike Field some years ago. I witnessed the same pass handed over the cable and used multiple times; ergo late arrivals with legitimate passes were turned away because the lot was full.

There has been secret hand shakes in about everything that Humans gather for, especially with the gatekeepers;)

I have seen this before and it is a bad look for Clemson especially when they have the barricades up and almost nobody is in them

I walked by and asked a man guarding the area

He said that due to the number of sports going on that day, half of the lot was basketball parking only. The other half was first come-first serve for tutoring, women's B-ball practice, and softball parking. At the time (12:45), first-come, first-serve was fairly full, since there was track, baseball, and softball going on before the influx of basketball attendees.

I found a spot in Lot 6 that wasn't too much more of a walk, but for those who came around 2 pm or later for basketball, they probably were in for a lot of hassle.
