And help the working class understand why those principles will elevate their standard of living. As opposed to letting the sheep lead the way.

However, political parties have generally accepted, traditional first principles. For the GOP that is:

Do you and the others not see 'populism' in any of the following policies?
(1) Student loan forgiveness.
(2) Extensive free benefits for migrants who have come into the USA illegally.
(3) Federal subsidies for EVs (i.e., a form of populism for wealthy environmentalists).
(4) Increased federal subsidies for school lunch programs.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
All of the above have the 'coincidental' effect of creating loyalty to various (large) subsets of Americans.
If those incidences of vote-buying aren't populism, then what on earth is populism?

problems -- progressives.
Progressives that have distorted the fight for gay rights into the most extreme version of trans justice you can concoct, rather than admitting that at some point we're not talking about tolerance/equality but trying to justify sever mental illness. It's also prevented them from honestly discussing gender reassignment for children.
Progressives have caused the party of hippies to become the party of The Man with their insistence in using the FBI/Deep State to achieve policy objectives.
Progressives have let mindfulness about earth's stewardship become some trojan horse for Marxism while getting in the way of genuine efforts to pursue clean energy (like nuclear).
Progressives have let identity politics blind them to fundamental civil rights (free speech, due process) Democrats used to be a major stalwarts on.

Comes down to logic versus emotion.
Sep 27, 2022, 11:53 AM

Emotional arguments are easy, but not tied to any first principles thus subject to frequent changes and hypocrisy.
Logical arguments are hard, but remain tethered and don't change with the winds of public outrage.

The briefing was sans,"End of quote. Repeat the line." There was no lean in to the mic with creepy whispering either.
Funny to watch a leader with a cogent message and normal delivery.

Murica! This is oppression. If you want to die in a hurricane that's your Constitutional right. I think we need some protests. Maybe even during the hurricane.
It's a power grab to close Florida businesses. It will impact the economy. There are still 2 models that put the hurricane in Texas or Louisiana. It's a conspiracy since liberals run NOAA.

I've got no problem with people deciding it's their right to die in hurricanes. If they wanna ride it out, have at it. As a guy with strong Libertarian leanings, I believe it's every man's right to die a fool if they wanna.
Just don't expect me to waste time, money, and resources rescuing you. If I tell you to evacuate and you don't, best of luck to you. Stuff gets rough, remember: I warned ya.

https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/covid_weekly/index.htmTabulated data on provisional COVID-19 deaths by age, sex, race and Hispanic origin, and comorbidities. Also includes an index of state-level and county-level mortality data available for download.
Probably saved a fair amount of people in the over 50 category, not much point for healthy people under 50 though. Anecdotally, the vaxed and boosted crowd seem to be getting covid more frequently amongst the folks we know.

desk. I've never had more than 16 at any given time, for the first 19 years doing this job. Just last week I talked to a 20yo girl who dropped out of college to raise her three younger siblings. Her parents died from covid, two weeks apart, leaving 3 minor children as orphans, and the oldest is raising them. Read a deposition from a father of a 23yo man who died from covid. He thought it was mild for people in their 20's. When he finally took him to the ER, it was too late. Was his only child. Or the carnival worker who died from covid, then his wife two weeks later. They have two kids who are being raised now by their aunt. Orphans, both under 10yo. Or the long haul trucker whose stay at home wife died from covid. He's trying to figure out how to be a single parent of two children under 10yo, while keeping his trucking job. Or the Clemson University employee who died from covid. That was nice. Or the police officer who died from covid. Had a nice chat with his wife. Or the school cafeteria worker who died from covid, just doing her job feeding kids in school. My barber lost his wife due to long-term covid complications. My wife's dad has a pacemaker, thanks to covid.
And this doesn't even include the increase in 20-40yo people who are dropping from strokes and clots.
I will stop now before I get angry.
I'm long over my fear of it, having been thrice vaxxed and twice infected. Middle son has covid right now, again.
