Every team will lose because there is only 1 ball and 11 players on the field at a time. Players will not sit and 105 is a really stupid idea.

Dabo is right.

Most schools have 120+ guys on their team. 40 are so are "walk ons" who know all they will ever do is play on the scout team. They are satisfied with maybe getting to dress out for a couple of home games and sit on the sideline. They are satisfied with being tacking dummies for the "varsity."

Now there are a few problems.
1. You can only have 105 guys total.
3. All 105 have to be on scholarship.
3. How many of those 105 are going to be happy being on the scout team and playing the role of tackling
dummy?
4. If it takes about 35 players to make up the scout team that means there are really only 70 or so on the "varsity." How many of those 35 will hit the portal every year?

Dabo's prediction is the portal number will increase drastically. I agree with him. Roster management, while difficult now, will increase in difficulty exponentially.

We'll see how the market develops across the college football game, but the understanding is that there is a 105-man limit, down from 120 previously, but the other change is that you are able to give out scholarships to all 105.

So smaller budget teams in other conferences may never reach the 105 scholarships and can use a lower number + walk-ons. I imagine power-league teams like Clemson will give out scholarships to all that they can sign for a given season.

The change that Dabo laments is not necessarily the higher scholarship allotment, but losing the 15 players overall in going down to 105.
