Yes this is from Ted Lasso. But it applies to Clemson football too. Over the past 4 years we have hoped to get the magic back and it just hasn’t happened. Being an outside observer, I can point to several things that seem broken in the football program but are those things true? If changed would they make a difference? I’m not sure. However, there two things I am sure of…
1. We don’t have the power rangers, Deshawn or Trevor, Travis Etienne, Mike Williams, Tee Higgins, Justin Ross, Hunter Renfrow, Simmons, Anthony, Bowlware. I could go on and on. We out talent the mid to lower level teams but our over all talent has declined. So, whether you get the talent from the portal or from recruiting, that has to be fixed if we ever want to be elite again.
2. We lack toughness, pride, grit. Whatever you call it. We seem soft mentally and physically. No one is scared to play us anymore. Do you think tge gamecocks are scared to play us? Do you think they dread that game or can’t wait to play it? They are battle tested and look faster and tougher than we do.
It’s so hard to recapture the magic once it gone. I truly don’t think Dabo can build it back the way he built it the first time. He will have to adapt if it is to happen. We’ll see what happens.

#2 - the toughness, pride, Grit, intensity, focus whatever you want to call it left with Brent Venables in my opinion. He seemed to be our spark plug. Wes Goodwin has no intensity and it seems our Defense is taking on his personality. They got run over and embarrassed last night and on top of that the offense play calling was terrible. Cade was off just enough to make the combination of them both to be our down fall.
