CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson United (13-5-1, 3-4-1 ACC) is set to face Syracuse (13-2-4, 5-1-2 ACC) on Sunday, November 13 at 12 p.m. in the ACC Championship match at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. The match will be televised on ESPNU.

The Tigers will go for their 16th ACC Championship, and fifth ACC Tournament title. This will be Head Coach Mike Noonan’s fifth ACC Championship finals berth in his 13 seasons at Clemson, and third in the last four seasons. Since Noonan took over in 2010, no team has made more ACC championship matches.

The Tigers are 27-27-10 all-time in the ACC Tournament and 4-5-0 in championship matches, earning titles in 1998, 2001, 2014, and 2020.

The Tigers have won each of their last five games, outscoring their opponents 13-2 over that stretch. Clemson defeated Notre Dame 3-1 at home in the first round to advance to the ACC Quarterfinal match for the 12th time in Mike Noonan’s 13 season tenure. The 2-0 upset victory on the road against top-seeded Duke earned Noonan his 10th appearance in the ACC semifinal match, and a 2-0 result at Wake saw the eighth-seeded Tigers become the lowest seed in ACC Tournament history to reach the championship match.

Clemson and Syracuse are meeting for the 15th time in the programs’ history and for the fourth time in ACC tournament play. The last time the Tigers faced the Orange was this season at Historic Riggs field, where the then-No. 1 Clemson suffered their first loss of the season to the then-No.16 Syracuse in a hard-fought 2-1 match. Clemson’s last meeting with Syracuse during the ACC tournament was in 2017 at Historic Riggs in the first round, where the Tigers advanced to the semifinals on penalty kicks.

This past season the Tigers were led in goals (5), points (17), and assists (7) by Ousmane Sylla, scoring three goals in his first four starts of the year. Mohamad Seye trails Sylla for second on the team in goals (4), points (14), and assists (6).

Freshman goalkeeper Joseph Andema is seventh in the nation in shutouts and first among freshmen with eight. He is tied for 2nd in the ACC and T-13th in the nation in save percentage (0.818) with Syracuse’s Russell Shealy. A shutout on Sunday would put Andema tied for 2nd in ACC shutouts and tied for 6th in overall shutouts in a season in Clemson program history.

The Tigers enter Sunday’s match after a 2-0 win over the fourth-seeded Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, N.C. Junior midfielder Brandon Parrish struck first and found the back of the net in just the 14th minute of the first half to give Clemson the edge. In the second half, Derek Waleffe sealed Clemson’s win after connecting with a volley following an Isaiah Reid corner kick.

Four Clemson players earned All-ACC accolades this year. Sylla got a much-earned spot on the All-ACC first team. Hamady Diop earned a spot on the All-ACC second team for the second consecutive year. Mohamed Seye was awarded a spot on the third team, and goalkeeper Joseph Andema made the All-Freshman team.

Syracuse houses six All-ACC accolade winners, including the coach of the year Ian McIntyre. The duo, Levonte Johnson and Nathan Opoku were named to first-team All-ACC, one player on the second-team All-ACC (Russell Shealy), and two more players on the third-team All-ACC (Christian Curti and Jeorgio Kocevski).
