He’s on scholarship because he was a preferred walk-on I believe. My memory is not exactly clear on this one but I think I’m right.

Being a preferred Walk On has nothing to do with being on scholarship as they are not related. You may be thinking of a gray shirt offer which does turn in to a scholarship offer for the next recruiting cycle. A PWO just means the player can enroll mid summer and participate in Camp.
