Is anyone teaching DJ not to stare down 1 receiver.

Seems to me this could have been a correctable problem by the 3rd game. Is this not a priority for coaching staff. Just asking because I haven’t seen any improvement since day 1.

Is anyone teaching him to drop back a step or 2 more ,or how to roll out ,or take something off some of his throws, or how to lead a receiver, or not make boneheaded underhand tosses into a blitzing lineman?
Better yet, is anyone teaching the WR's how to hold on to a catch or teaching our offensive coordinator to be more creative with the playbook.
This isn't all on DJ, He just happens to be the one in the spotlight.

Teaching/training players to do something is one thing......

but the players have to actually execute it on the field in the game. I have a feeling DJ does fine in practice but in a game the "deer in the highlights" look takes over and he freezes and stops thinking.

Im sure the coaches are completely ignoring

all the issues and just sipping Champaign at Dabo's house laughing all the way to the bank.

Maybe they'll all just quit like that Spurrier guy did

Dear AllTeamBall,

Assuming that you are really a Tiger fan (which is dubious), I'll try to help.

Despite the disappointment that all real Tiger fans feel after losing and witnessing DJ's incredibly awful pick-6 on the shovel pass, the modestly observant true fan can readily see that DJ has improved markedly since Game 1 of this year. I'll be brief with the areas of improvement that can be attributed to nothing less than good and intense coaching:

(1) Recognizing and exploiting running lanes (which DJ didn't do in first two D1 games very well, but does an OK job now).
(2) Taking snaps directly under Center. DJ had no such experience in HS, and Clemson Offense did not need this type of complication when the ready-from-day-1 talents like D.Watson and T.Lawrence were here.
(3) Improving recognition and sense of coolness when going to check-down receivers. No doubt, DJ is far from a finished product in this area, but he is far better now than he was against UGA and GA Tech.
(4) Cleverness as a ball handler. Again, DJ was simply no good at this against UGA and GA Tech, but he's coming along.

DJ's biggest problem is that he lacks situational awareness. When new plays (for him) or new routines (for him) must be mastered, he does not have the overall awareness of his environment to recognize when to either throw the ball away in a timely manner or to take the sack instead of the shovel pass pick-6 type play.

NOTE: Poor situation awarness is NOT any indication of overall intelligence. I have worked with chemists of all levels of formal education (many of whom are truly brilliant), but it has not been uncommon for these scientists to lack situational awareness. A common example is driving an automobile. The ones that lack situational awareness do not recognize the danger of driving in a truck's blind spot; they don't think about which lane is best until right on top of the exit. I'm scared nearly to the point of soiling myself when a passenger in a car that they are driving. To summarize, the lack of situational awareness ... whether in DJ or in some super smart chemist ... is NOT a reflection on overall intelligence.

But if you can summon your observational recollections and gather your thoughts, you'll agree that DJ has improved (and markedly) from his woeful start-of-the-season QB skills.
