His brother is an OL at App St. He was a key player at VT but didnt catch on w the Jags so he found a new path. Good for him.

You may recall Cle son really wanted him at LB but he chose VT as I recall it for Bud Foster as DC. Apparently his dad who is a coach felt more comfortable w BF than Venables. It is just interesting how things work out at times.

“I think he likes the things they’ve got there but to tell you the truth I would be very shocked if he went there,” the dad said. “I find it hard to believe anybody could outweigh (Virginia Tech DC) Bud Foster in my opinion. I know Coach Venables is a good coach but he’s not Bud Foster.”

I couldnt find the quote but he was right. BV wins by a landslide in reality though

but BV has coached in eight national championship games between his time at OU and Clemson, helping OU to one title and Clemson to four berths and two titles.
