I think I might rather see a university wide "Clemson Campaign" focused on Athletic Excellence. We seem to easily raise $1B when we run campaigns for Academic Excellence so why don't we do the same for Athletic Excellence and use the money to attract and retain the best athletes?

Since athletic success has brought academic success through funding of better facilities and programs, this should be thought of as a good investment for our future.

Football makes us big bucks.
Basketball makes us small bucks.
ALL other sports lose money. Football funds ALL our sports that lose money. Our athletic department pretty much spends every dollar it makes. There is no money left to pay athletes.
