Travis: A Soldier's Story - Award Winning Documentary. Inspiring story of SSG Travis Mills who was critically injured by an IED and is now a quad amputee.
I was in Maine last week extending my turkey hunting season. My buddy and I were staying in a cabin and motel complex next to a new restaurant.
We went in the restaurant one evening and saw a guy that at first glance appeared to be missing an arm and leg. My buddy was about to call over the waitress to tell her he wanted to pay for this guy's beer and whatever he had had to eat as based on the guy's age we correctly assumed he sustained his injuries in the military.
The guy comes over and leans in and thanks us for coming in and joked with me about ordering my cheeseburger well done. He was really funny and upbeat.
We realized this guy owns the restaurant and subsequently found out he owns the cabin/motel complex.
I then took a closer look at him as he walked away and realized he is a quad amputee.
Travis Mills is an amazing person and some of the You Tube postings of him show his amazing resilience and humor in refusing to feel sorry for himself. He is a sought after motivational speaker.
His motto is never give up. Never quit.
Total stud of a human being.
It will be a good while before I complain about any physical ailment.
