then say 15 graduate, leave early, retire from football, or whatever. Then we sign 15 on signing day, where do we get scholarships to give out to players in the portal? If I was reading right and I haven't went and looked but we were at 85, will have 14 openings after the season is over, then Stellato enters the portal, so 15 openings. We sign 15, then we are back to 0 openings. It amazes me that very few schools have this problem, the Georgia's, Bama's Ol' Pisses, O31O St and others sign max or over every year!

More players are going to enter the portal, happens every year. Unlike other programs Dabo will not run anyone off if they show up and do what is asked of them. So far the only exception to that I have seen is a kid that has graduated but has eligibility remaining. Dabo believes in holding up his end of the bargain, allowing a kid to graduate, as long as they fulfill their obligation regardless of their impact.

... they don't want to play football any longer. They are usually not on the 2 or even 3 deep depth chart. So, we don't hear about them.
Think of the numbers this way. You can sign 25 a year. Kids have 5 years of eligibility to play (including redshirt). That's 125. So, 40 people have to leave (either to graduation, transfer or just quitting) over those 5 years. That's 40 over the 85 limit.
I'm not explaining it well. Let me try this. Theoretically if you signed 25 kids a year and all 25 of them stayed and graduated in 4 years, that would be 100 on ship. If they all took a redshirt that would be 125 on ship.
Every school, even Clemson, has attrition. The difference is most schools have plenty of attrition so they can sign 25 a year and stay below the 85 limit. (Heck, Cuse just signed 34 yesterday. NCAA has loopholes allowing for more than 25, but that is another story.) Clemson doesn't have that much attrition, hence they can't sign 25 every year.

Correct. And that was Dabo’s point when he said, “how do you call a players mom and tell him he doesn’t have a spot anymore”. He was talking about over signing and then Having to pull a scholarship from an existing player. Dabo plays by the rules (and has morals) while other teams coaches could care less.

How many of those 85 only contribute to the program by appearing on the VLOG?

Those guys get upcycled at the other elite programs. Right, wrong, or indifferent; that is an advantage most schools have over us.
