I think Herbstreit is right. The Saturday pro football will

be structured very similar to the NFL. Two conferences, perhaps a SFC and NFC, with three divisions. They will just use the NFL as template for their new football league.

And I guess the other half of the current D1 schools that

don't make this new league will be left to play their own game if they so choose. Maybe college football?

Honestly I made that very same point back when NIL came out

Let these other school have their minor league NFL and everyone else just goes back to playing college ball the way it was intended to be - with amateur, student athletes. Frankly Id be fine with it.

Exactly. If Herbstreit is right, everyone should just relax.

If there is a "NFL-Heavy, College Sponsored" football league with 20-25 teams in each Division, then relax...there is no world where Clemson is not a part of that, IF the Clemson University administration wishes to be.

IF Clemson wishes to play amateur college sports, then they can joing the remaining 70 or so schools and go back to a more traditional model and structure conferences out of that.

Dont be naive. Clemson is gonna go where the $ is!***

Probably. I'm just saying that we're fine either way.

Jul 1, 2022, 12:52 PM

In the scenario Herbstreit painted, assuming (better?) Clemson wants in on the action, they will be welcomed with open arms. Don't get caught up in TV markets and what not. We'll be fine. No one is creating a super-league of 50-55 football teams and cutting out a willing Clemson team.

If we stick with the traditional model, we will be battling HBCU's

For recruits. Big time football at Clemson would be dead.

Correct. We would be playing amateur football and

undoubtedly we would not be competing for the same recruits as the College Sponsored pro league. Presumably we would be battling the other 70 or so D1 teams that aren't in the pro league.
