We have scored 222 runs this far. Our opponents have scored 111 , that's doubled up. So , our offense is potent no matter how they're getting it. That number also says our pitching isn't as poor as a lot of the fans on this site claim. Shorthanded with depth issues , no doubt. Bad ? Not even close. We've scored 10 or more runs 9X so far where our opponents have only done so 2X (both losses for us Ole Miss and Wake). We are averaging 8.5 runs/game and holding the opposition to just 4.3/game . That's the signature of a really good baseball team. Not sure what all these numbers mean to anyone but me , but taking a series over a really good Deac baseball team today got me to thinking about what we were doing on paper. So I shallowly dove in. Go Tigers !

I'm on board with the idea that we just need the injureds back on the mound and we're all set. But 23-3 is a darn good start .

I was looking over the ACC stats yesterday, and I agree completely. Clemson's overall hitting metrics actually haven't been very impressive thus far: they're mostly sitting at around 10th in the league, though their walk/on base numbers have been better. The pitching stats, on the other hand, are mostly 3rd or even 2nd in the conference. And that's with a pretty injured staff. It certainly goes against the popular perception, doesn't it?

It certainly does. I think our pitching coach has done a very good job of working through all of the issues he's been presented with.

Looking at the numbers from ACC play so far, it looks like they'll end up with a 17-13 record in conference play (assuming they keep the same pace), and a about 44-45 wins overall (again if they keep their current pace). Judging by last year I feel like that puts them firmly in 2nd place in our division, but if they can clean up some mistakes, and we can get more bats going I don't see why they couldn't end up with 20+ wins and a 1st place spot in the Atlantic.
I think pitching is pretty robust right now, even if some guys have a slight regression (Bailey, Allen, and Garris), we have a bunch of guys who could all fill in at some point and give us quality innings (Bennett, Samol, and Leguernic even who judging by advanced stats looks like he's getting unlucky to a certain degree). I would say right now hitting is the area we are lacking, with 4 regular hitters being above average ACC hitters, although Priest's peripheral numbers show that he is primed to start improving his numbers.
The rest of the way looks very doable, and I agree with you that the perception over the weekend might have been overblown; Wake is a very good team, and taking 2 of 3 from a top 15 team is incredible feat regardless of current issues with performance. Go Tigers!
