Good question. I have no idea, but with the way things are going nothing surprises me anymore.

Good question. If they’re getting paid to play, what’s the point of going to class? They’re not getting paid to get an education, getting paid to win. I don’t like this new system.

They won’t be enrolled. They’ll be employees.

That's a false dilemma in st least two ways.

1. They can be both enrolled and employees. Lots of graduate assistants do that. So do university employees that get cost breaks on degree work.
2. They may be contractors, not employees.
You are proposing that only two polar opposite options exist.
In reality, there are at least four.
Think big!

Most of them aren't going to make it to the NFL, and the money they make in college won't last them the rest of their lives, so it's a good idea for them to get a degree while they have the opportunity.

Easy deal. If you are not enrolled at the institution, you are now paying us for your room, food, the use of the training facility. Now that we're all business and everything, I'm sure somethin can be worked out.

Not being enrolled would save the school a lot of money. Why would they charge a player extra for not taking up a scholarship?

Four years....maybe less.
Someone posted previously about the European soccer league model....and the possibility of college football turning into something similar. With all that's happening like Tennessee adding that "talent fee" BS ....if getting a scholarship, free food, housing, education, college experience, "free" marketing and experience isn't enough....what the #### is the purpose? Didn't all this start as Extra-curricular activities? Just sayin'...
Go Tigers!!!

Tennessee is in the cutting edge of maximizing the new model.
Like them it nit, it's working well for them.
The NIL lawsuit over their QB recruit.
The same of on-field advertising.
Now revenue sharing.
They are smacking the faces of Luddites who are addicted to an obsolete business model.

It may have started as an extracurricular activity, but now it's a billion-dollar business. Players have the same right to make as much money as people are willing to pay them as anyone else does.

It's gonna happen. When the 24-36 schools split from NCAA. 2-3 years at most. Gonna be interesting how the new semi-pro league handles the stadium issue. Rent from schools I guess.

We could try that, but other schools might be willing to continue offering those things and it would be hard to recruit against them.
