mixed bag. Under yet another first year Head Coach, Frank Dobson, the Tigers finished with a record of 4-3-1.
The four wins included a second straight win over the Coots in Columbia, 24-0.
Football schedules back then certainly bore no resemblance to modern ones. Our first four games:
Gordon State College (W 23-0) Mercer (L 3-0!) Howard (W 24-0) The Citadel (W 32-0)
The last four games were SIGNIFICANTLY tougher, except for the Coots:
Auburn (L 17-0) (At Auburn) USuK (W 24-0) Georgia (T 0-0) (Played in Augusta, Georgia) GT (L 34-0) (Grant Field gets us again.)
Scheduling was weird to say the least, back then. In our next season, 1911, we start out with three home games in a row, and then never see home again the rest of the season. Five in a row on the road. Butt, we'll get into that tomorrow!

In modern times could you ever imagine us losing to Mercer, by ANY score, but much less getting shut out 3-0?

Coots again. Evidently there was some kind of brawl after the 1902 game, which is why we didn't play them again until 1909!
I wonder if Granny Holtz was at that one, too?
