Heading to Pitt this weekend...Questions

Taking my family to Pittsburgh this weekend; wife and 2 kids ages 11 girl and 7 boy. I've got the downtown hotel and a couple restaurants under control, but...

1)***Haven't looked too hard for tickets. I'm admittedly willing to overpay for good tickets, but I wonder if the amenities, etc are full throttle at a Pitt game like they would be for a Steelers game @ Heinz Field? I know Pitt is hardly even second fiddle the their beloved Steelers. In other words, is it worth getting Club seats? It'll be chilly if not in the sun and I can totally see my family ducking into the the Club area for substantial parts of the game.***

2) Would welcome any additional restaurant suggestions not more than 15- 20 minutes by Uber from the rivers and football stadium.
3) Any neat things to do, see would be welcomed. Have a few family friendly things on the radar, but might peel off for a couple hours by myself, so any cool old Pittsburgh bars, etc would be of interest.

1. Yes, club seats are worth it. I have club seats. Yes, the amenities are "full throttle" for both Pitt and Steelers games. It also won't be very chilly. Supposed to be a clear day with temps in the low 50s. Perfect football weather.

2. Take your kids on a Gateway Clipper cruise, if you have time. Pretty inexpensive and a neat experience. Also, take them up one of the inclines from the South Side to the top of Mt. Washington. Very cheap and awesome views that will leave an impression on your kids. Scenic overlooks at the top for great pictures and to take in the views.

As far as going off by yourself to bars. The best ones are on the South Side on Carson Street. Especially Friday and Saturday evenings. Way too many to mention.

If you're the gambling type, Rivers Casino right next to Heinz Field is pretty nice.

2 - The Warhol Museum

3 - The Heinz History Center

4 - The Carnegie Museum of Art and Carnegie Museum of Natural History

5 - Bicycle Heaven

6 - Tour PNC Park/Heinz Field

We're doing the Family Tailgate on Empress Gateway Clipper. Done these things before and they are usually well worth the $$ to be fed and open bar. First time on a river cruise so it should be pretty cool. Also: I have TWO extra IPTAY tickets to the game. $100 for both.

My two oldest grands grew up there, and on every trip

up for summer visits (except last year,) I took them and cousins to Kennywood Amusement Park.

It is an old-fashioned park without glitzy themes but with good rides and great food. This time of year it operates Friday - Sunday, and it's about a 20 minute drive from Heinz Field. Check out the operating hours, as your entire family would enjoy the visit. And be sure to sample the french fry boothes, offering a huge variety of toppings...which I could never get enough of along with the Philly Cheesesteak.

If you have time, cross the bridges and walk along the sidewalks on Mt. Washington for great views of the city.

Good call on Kennywood. One of the best-kept secrets with regards to amusement parks in the country. 5 or 6 GREAT coasters.

the OP said his kids were 11 and 7... they will LOVE Kennywood.
