be about to coach an NCAAT first round game and news get out that we’re leaving for another school? Before they even play?
I’m not sure I’ve ever heard of that, but could be wrong.

The NIL and portal have changed a lot of things. Schools are firing coaches before seasons are over, coaches quitting right before a season starts.

But this is neither of those. He wasn't fired, and he hasn't quit. This is just very odd timing of the announcement.

Not odd at all. NC State wants their coach now to start grabbing from the portal.

But he’s not their coach now and he can’t grab from the portal. He is employed by McNeese state and has a game tomorrow.

IMO it’s a bad look. Both parties could’ve done a better job controlling that message. Shame for Mcneese state.

Bill Freider did this back in the 80’s at Michigan. He was fired after he took the Arizona State job prior to the tournament. Bo was the AD - said only a Michigan man is going to coach Michigan basketball and thus began Steve Fishers tenure at UofM

In 1989 Michigan's coach bailed before the tournament and Steve Fisher lead them to the National Championship.

The guy is a total piece of crap, and always will be.
What he got in trouble for is legal now. I get that.
But the fact is… he is still a turd of a person, and something will come back to bite him again sometime. Mark it down.

No but when Barnes left Clemson we played awful and lost in the NCAAT first round to Central Michigan. It seemed it was within hours we heard he was leaving. I always wondered if the players knew when they played the game because they had never looked that bad. It was as if they said lets ditch this and go on spring break.

Not much different than players opting out before bowls or entering the transfer portal. Coaches can roll out too I guess.

Not a fan of Wade. Seems to be a POS person with a lot of baggage. Unethical, slimy, doesn't seem to handle things with much class.
But I'm also wondering where all the DJU loving fans are with their once a Tiger, always a Tiger comments...
