The new age of law enforcement that satisfies the loudest agenda crazies is what will be followed. Not the normal people that don't have time yo chase SM because they have a job and dont live in parents basement! How is a player suspended for 27 games and $5mil, yet never found guilty in the court of law, never found guilty by jurors, never found guilty by a Goodell hired "Female" judge, but suggested a 6-game suspension based on the conduct code of NFL. Then Goodell adds 5 games and $5m to penalty?? The only reason Goodell added games was to try to make NFL look better in the eyes of vocals. But he never followed the justice system.
Screw Goodell and the flakey NFL. I have played Fantasy NFL for 6-7yrz. I will not play again, therefore never open the app and I have changed Cable service with no NFL network.
Sad day in the justice system. And don't give me the crud anymore that he obviously did something!! Yes, of course he did something, but what it was, ??? was not an offense in the magnitude of imprisonment nor civil cases beyond some monetary figures.?.
Have one person holding on, but the attny for the accusers has made his 45% and is ready to carry on. He probably dont remember the females name at this point. Oh, Wait!! It's an attny, he definitely knows her name because he expects another free check of 37+%
I understand your frustration, however, the legal process is not the problem here. The civil and criminal process have progressed in DW’s favor relatively speaking. The problem is ridiculous terms agreed to in a collective bargaining agreement between professional athletes and a private corporation. Also, the court of public opinion is almost always a dumpster fire.
The NFL had an image problem in years past where players behaved like they were pledging the frat in Animal House. So to protect their image and business they put implemented harsh rules. They have every right to set the terms of employment for their business and DW4 should have understood the rules he needed to follow. He let one aspect of his life get out of control and is paying the price. This has nothing to do with laws or our justice system. The NFL pays players millions of dollars and they are the face of their league so they have every right to expect a certain level of behavior.
It will be interning to see what the sports commentators say when Dan Snyder gets his punishment for the Redskins creating a hostile workplace in terms of sexual harassment. Richardson sold the Panthers to avoid it. Sunder won’t do that. If he gets anything less than “You have to sell the team” then will the NFL Network talking heads talk about the hypocrisy. How about ESPN. Cowherd, Baylees or Shannon Sharpe on Fox might unless the corporate folks ask them to not put the NFL relationship at risk.
In my opinion why not fight it? Why pay? Why apologize? This whole deal could be a whole lot of nothing or it could be that this is basically a slap on the wrist in comparison to what it could have been. Aggravated with the whole situation. Another wasted year and I can’t see how he gets back to what he was any time soon with all this sitting out.
He has some good Attorneys and a Players Union to defend him. If they don't defend him aggressively it may be because they can't make a good argument in his favor. I'm not sure what the guy did exactly but he's admitted to some sort of inappropriate behavior. He may just have to take his medicine.
I think the problem lies with the terrible agreement the players union made. What has happened is the Union gave the NFL two bites of the apple. First, the NFL (Goodell) gets to appoint an arbitrator. Then when the NFL (Goodell) doesn't like the arbitrator's decision, the NFL appoints someone else to make the decision and the arbitrator's decision counts for nothing. In the legal system you can only appeal the arbitrator's decision and get it changed if there were clear errors of fact or law made in the decision. You don't get a new trial the second time around.
Guilt in civil cases and in cases of professional leagues, is in the eyes of the beholder. Deshaun is guilty because he is subject of the rules of the NFL. Stop trying to defend a flawed individual because we are all flawed.
This suspension has nothing to do with the justice system. In fact, the justice system has already determined (twice) not to press charges.
The suspension is an organization - an employer - enforcing its own rules. It would be like getting fired for cussing at a customer...it's not illegal. But you impact the image of the employer, potentially impact revenues and investments, and are therefore held accountable.
