Whether that choice has played out into success or not remains to be proven.
But there's no one on the planet that can say Dabo made a bad hire at the time. Plain and simple.

Agree. Thought it was a great hire and so did the sports media. Don't know whose offensive game plan and play calling that was against Louisville, but it was the worst I have ever seen by a Clemson team. I have no idea why we got away from what had been working so well but if that was Garrett Riley, he needs to go back to what was working or be replaced.

Our offensive numbers reflect the slam dunk hire and we will need those numbers against Va. Tech, Pitt and S. Carolina.

I loved the GR hire when we made it. But I loved the moment when we signed DJ out of HS too.

I was never sold on DJ. California football ain't southern big boy football. I had him pegged as a premadonna from the get go.

I don't have any direct insight, but when you hear from those who were around him constantly, that is not the kind of person they describe.
Now, when it comes to Big Dave, that is a whole other discussion...

Yeah...I don't really no. He got his degree at Clemson before he transferred so good on him.

Did you have the same concerns about Bryce Young because they played in the same conference and were the Top 2 QBs in the country from the same class coming out of HS? Bryce beat DJ in the regular season but DJ beat Bryce in the CA Sectional Final.
Bryce seems to have fared pretty well in college; not so much as a pro...

Didn't think he was all that great a QB in college. Of course the stupid Panthers did their thing....

I mean, he did win a Heisman Trophy and take his team to a NC game. His '21 season was crazy, 4,872 yards passing with 47 TDs and only 7 INTs. His next season was a little down but he still threw for 3,328 yards with 32 TDs and only 5 INTs.
I don't know bro, those are some pretty good college stats to me.

If Riley doesn’t get the job done…he was a bad hire. Period.

GR made his hay in the CFP game against MI.
Thr TCU Sr. QB Dugan made that GR offense look like it was all part of the plan. Maybe it was.
Maybe next year CK2 will have continued his pace of dramatic improvement as we’ve seen between 2023 and this season.
If indeed CK2 matures by 2025 to the level of Dugan was during Dugan’s 2022 season at TCU, then we should indeed have a consistently tremendous offense next year. That happens, then GR will have validated all of the ‘home run hire’ hype.
