Ga State Senator wants Peach State College Players Exempt..

From paying the state tax of 5.4% on their NIL income which for a Bulldog QB making $1 Million would save him $55,000 on taxes.

Reason is to help all Georgia state-wide football players be more competitive in making & keeping more $ and be on even footing with Texas & Florida, no tax states.

And, as the State Senator said, it’s all about outdoing or staying even with teams outside of Georgia, particularly Florida & Texas (both with no income tax) or any SEC for that matter.

Crazy world with $ floating all over for that game Andy Griffith called Pumpkin Ball~

That’s absolutely stupid. You make money, you pay taxes.

I was based in IL and when I traveled to PA, NY, and MD, plus other states, where my company did business, my wages were separated and tracked daily. I had to file State taxes in those states. The worst year was filing State taxes in 6 states. Do it when the rich NIL players show up in SC and give the money to a general fund for all college students.

May as well start teaching them now how that side of things is going to work if they're fortunate enough to turn pro. I mean, it is college after all. Here to learn and grow.

I live in GA and this is your typical political idiocy and pandering. I am a huge Clemson fan in GA, I, and I'm sure, all the GA first responders, teachers, doctors, nurses, etc would also like not having to pay state income taxes. Yet, we are considering giving such a break to a group of 17-22 yr olds who's very short lived occupation will be to run around, jump, throw, catch, shoot, spike whatever for the entertainment of us fans who will pay the taxes and let's give them a free education, room, board, meals, etc. In the big picture, they contribute relatively zero to society yet they are awarded with this?

Hopefully, this will not pass or, if it does, the rest of here in GA, can also get such a tax break.

Incredible

Texas and Florida make up the revenue from not having state income tax by having a higher sales tax. So the NIL money is taxed in those states unless they don’t spend any money.

Pro athletes pay state taxes where their games are played. NIL would be exempt since it is for advertising and not playing. The school payouts should be subject to out of state taxes where games are played.

I hope the Collectives are making sure taxes are withheld, filed and paid. I would hate to see the 87,000 new IRS agents arresting players, other than UGA and Coots, during warm ups.

Florida does not have a high sales tax. It is 6%, same as SC. Locally in Charleston, it's 9%.

Florida and Tennessee makes it up in property taxes. My mother in law, who lives in Nashville, pays
almost twice as much property tax as I do in SC on similarly valued houses.

The state representative proposing this is Brandon Beach and lives in my neighborhood in Alpharetta. He is a HUGE LSU fan. This is something we as Clemson fans should pay attention to since we heavily recruit from those states that don’t have income tax and places us and UGA as well as LSU at a disadvantage in the NIL wars. Tennessee is also another state without income tax.

Hey, maybe he should just amend his bill to include an annual $100 NIL tax on all Georgia residents. If that's not enough, how about diverting 50% of the Georgia Lottery funds to NIL?

The lottery is to support education... so you could make an argument that putting lottery money to NIL makes sense.

Its like gasoline tax is supposed to go to support the DOT to repair roads and bridges.....
