For my 10,000th Tigernet post I would like to

announce that after over a year of Vietnam stories I think I am done with those. And I would like to give thanks to everyone who has been kind enough to respond in a positive manner to all of those posts and also thank those who ignored them without giving me the thumbs down. I don't recall getting a single TD on any of them and I appreciate the patience of those who didn't think they belonged on a sports board. I spent less than a year over there and have posted stories for well over a year so it is time to get back to sports and other topics. GO TIGERS!!!!

First, thank you for your service. I'm sure you have many more stories stored in that memory bank that need to be told. The son of a close friend served in Vietnam and developed cancer due to the defoliants. He suffered for about six years but always had a positive attitude.

My uncle was stationed at Da Nang airfield as a perimeter guard. He would send me pictures about once a month. I still have all of them. When I read your stories, I can see those black and white photos.

Your posts brought back a lot of memories for me and prompted me to post things I ordinarily would not have thought of. There are a lot of former GIs and Marines that tell stories about their tours there that I know are not factual. I can always tell which ones are real and there was never any question that all of yours rang true. Don't be shy about continuing to post if something pops back up that you want to share. Thanks!

From one Vietnam Vet to another: Thanks for sharing. Brought back many memories of the long days and nights I spent in Country (Vietnam) wishing I was back in the low country (SC) walking on the beach.

Vietnam was not just a history lesson or documentary to folks my age (64). It was real, we watched it on the news every night, and knew people who served, and some who didn't return. So I'll say again... thanks for your service, and I will always be grateful that men like you stepped up when it was your turn. Just like my dad and uncles did in WW2. I hold you in high regard, my friend.
