Made me tear up. Like he said. Pray for everyone. I was one of the lucky ones as my family member made it out of NC. But I've spent so much time in them hills.

Thanks for posting the link.

I was in Canton, Candler, and Fletcher today. There are some good people doing great work on utilities, distribution centers, helping neighbors with heavy equipment. Saw another chinook helicopter and that is encouraging.

Some of our employees do not have power or water, WiFi, and cell service is spotty, but things are improving. Emotions are high and it is not uncommon to see tears or anger.
Keep doing what you are able to afford to send support to the worst areas.
I cannot report on Black Mountain or Chimney Rock, but the news we hear isn’t good.

People just don’t understand these feelings unless you have been through it. When we lived on St Thomas in 1995 and the hurricane hit there, we weren’t able to contact our families on the mainland to let them know we were ok for 4 days. Then you had to line up at the AT&T office to make a 30 second call. The airport was closed for 4 days. When it opened, my company made reservations for my wife and kids to fly to Atlanta but they had no way to let us know that. An engineer from our corporate office in Chicago arrived the next day and told me to take them to the airport because the company had duplicated the reservations to get them out the next day. Don’t get power back to our house for 3 weeks and that was only because we brought a spool of wire in on a ship from Miami and hooked it up to the generator at our plant. Then we could start repairing the roof. Being cut off from the world is a devastating feeling.
