ESPN's CFB Live analyzed if the Big 12 or the ACC are more wide open at this point, with 1-of-3 taking the ACC. Pete Thamel says Miami has run out with an early lead for conference contention:

comparable in competition and payscale. At least in the ACC we have places that we can travel to by car, to watch games. Conference Championships will not be in Charlotte they'll be in Dallas or some other midwest city.. If its not the SEC or Big 10 then I think we're relegated to the ACC. The Big 12 makes little to no sense unless many other ACC teams defect. But i'll watch regardless.

100% agree. If the options are ACC and Big12 stay in the ACC. Close historic rivals and the ACC is a better overall conference.

If anybody defects then we have to go also. If FSU goes to the B12 most likely UNC to the B10 will be next. The dominos will fall rapidly once it starts.
