eliminate all 2nd tier bowl games

except for maybe 3 games....make it a mini (4 team) playoff with fun christmasy locations.....new york, boise, etc. The "prestige" of a big bowl is clearly over outside of the playoff......so just kill it. TexasA&M and UNC met in the orange bowl about 3 years ago........the biggest bowl invite for either in 20-25 years.......all the best players on both teams immediately opted out.

Glorified scrimmages for the underclassmen. Thats all they are now.

Pretty sad, but there NEVER should have been so many bowls in the first place. It used to be a reward for a good season. Now 5-7 loser teams get bowls. Its stupid.

I agree. Should just be the playoffs and championship game. The rest are everyone gets a trophy for participation bowls.

Do not agree with this but I definitely think we need to reduce Bowls from 42 down to about 20. There are teams like NIU that beat ND but would never make playoffs unless they were extremely lucky, but smaller schools should have opportunities for fee bowls. And just think that SMU or Clemson could end the season 10-2 or 11-2 and not make playoffs, they deserve post season games. But with the reduction in bowl games, make them more valuable to schools and players. Make the players want to play for the swag and monetary gain instead of chasing the transfer portal check.

But 100% delete half the bowls!

I agree. A 10 or 11 win, exciting, bowl eligible team would feel pretty good heading into the off-season.

It's too late to address all 75 problems that get brought up every day. But for right now, shouldn't we remain positive? How would you feel as a recruit or player on the fringe of transferring? Let's focus on being Clemson Men and that's what we will attract.

What's the problem with lots of bowl games? Can't you just choose not to tune in to the games you have no interests in watching?

True, BUT . . .

that is a different argument and point than whether "2nd tier" bowl games are a good idea or not. Fact is, the playoff has been marketed and over-hyped and accepted as so central and all-important, that people have naturally started to accept non-playoff bowls as worthless. That is a different matter than bowls being superfluous even under the old system.

No, 5-7 teams shouldn't go to bowls. They should be less common than to allow that. But now we have a culture that considers bowls that 8-4 teams go to as "crappy," and that's an unfortunate effect of playoff and playoff over-hype/obsession.

Disagree. Many players, their families, coaches love those opportunities.

Brings in added revenue for the schools and NIL today. I personally don't care about many bowls not related to playoffs, BUT I don't wish those other bowls to be discontinued. I just don't watch.

Why would you want to have less football?

Crappy bowl games are still great !

And with the proliferation of gambling and higher TV ratings as a result, those bowl games aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. Players who want to play love ‘em, and the extra practice time is good too.

What’s to hate about them?
Or is it just too much ACC football to take ? (I’m kidding 😂)

They give fans another game, a travel opportunity, and make money for the host duties and charities. Leave them alone.

The best thing about bowls is the extra practice that 3rd and 4th team guys and redshirt guys get. Bowl practices give coaches time to see what the young ones can do.

If we go 8-4 or 9-3 I still want to be in a bowl game. I love watching football and it's fun to see teams play that rarely would go against each other otherwise.

I like the Bowls, and they don’t harm anyone not interested in the teams that are playing. Most colleges and universities have little realistic chance of making the CFP.
In addition to providing the teams with additional practices, the bowls also allow one of the teams to finish the season on a positive note.

Tuned in to most last year, if only for 5 minutes, and several were playing to practically empty stadiums. The money sure ain't coming from ticket sales.

Nothing like 2 teams that haven't made a bowl in forever playing each other. It's exciting for the players and the fans. I enjoy them. It's part of the goofiness of college football.

to participate in the bowl games now - I know it was discussed. With that in play you would see less opt outs potentially.
