if you can't get behind and enjoy this version of Clemson basketball, you have some kind of personal problem (and I hope you get the help you need), or you're a coot.
This is a good team. Not great. Won't win a national championship, probably won't make the final 4. They will never be confused with any of the great UNC/Duke/UCLA/etc teams of the past. They will have some more ugly, frustrating losses. But this is CLEMSON BASKETBALL, and we are near the top of the league in the 2nd half of the season, and we just won a tough game on the road.
For God's sake, take a breath, put in your big boy pants, and try to enjoy it.

After being a Clemson basketball fan for the last 30 years and a tigernet member for 20+, I’ve come to the conclusion that the “fan” base on here doesn’t know how to enjoy the successes we have and uses over-generalizations about Coach Brownell to make up for their lack of Clemson ball knowledge.

1970 is as far back as I can remember watching/following Clemson hoops. Although not pretty at times, it’s a gutsy group that does not quit. I’ve seen a ton of games just like today’s that didn’t work out. No complaints here!

I so agree with this post. Brownell is a CLEMSON man, just like DABO. I been a fan for 55 years. Grew up with Frank Howard as a coach. There is no place like Clemson.

I genuinely believe the “personal problem” you are referring to is the “brownell hate”
We have too many fans that hate the man to the point they pull against him. It’s not even Clemson basketball they’re pulling against. It’s Brad Brownell. They’re so mad that he’s finally having success after all these years. They would rather be right about him and have a trash team than pull for the man to succeed. These are the same fans that ride footballs #### and try to cancel you if you in any way criticize football or Dabo…… idk why people think our fans are so great when tnet is a clear representation of our SELF RIGHTEOUS fan base

Hate to say this but we do have too many Brownell haters. These are not true Clemson Fans. They just have to have something or someone to Hate on. True Clemson Fans are not Self Righteous. Many of the great fans of Clemson do not post on these boards.

And has done a good job building the program. It's taken him a long time to get here, though.
Either way, very glad they're taking full advantage of a weakened ACC, and believe they can actually finish in the top 4 for the regular season, and maybe even compete for a league title.
Can't expect much in the tourney - it's the tourney. Anything can happen and probably will.

I guess how you feel for Brownell depends on what your goals are for Clemson basketball. Clemson should and can expect to win a championship in basketball. 20 years ago I'd say no but in today's world where the portal and money mean way more than history anything is possible. I did want Brownell gone over the years but I'll admit he has been good the past 6 or 7 years. So what are your expectations, mine are national championships so he needs to continue to do things to take Clemson to the next level and yes I do believe he can.

We will never be Duke, UNC, etc., so be happy with our recent successes and be thankful that the portal has been a positive for men’s basketball.

We will never be Duke, UNC, etc., so be happy with our recent successes and be thankful that the portal has been a positive for men’s basketball.
I think it's wild we keep doing a lot of firsts in MBB with Brownell and folks still have venom to serve for days the moment we hit a cold streak during a game. Aint to say we haven't had frustrating moments but that's with all sports if we're being honest.
On the positive, January is historically a BAD MONTH for MBB. Last year we went 3-5...We're 5-1 at this point and we've got a good chance to win out the last couple of games this month.
That said, we've got a gauntlet coming up in February that will be very interesting to watch playout:
02/01 @NC State
02/04 Georgia Tech
02/08 Duke
02/10 North Carolina
If we clear this section of the schedule with 3 wins that would be massive for our ACC tourney seeding and double-bye chances.
Anyhow, let's hope the rare air becomes the norm like making the tourney and going on deep runs 🤞

I'm not sure where to place this reply, so I'll just take a shot and reply to the OP, even though there have already been some excellent replies.
To place my reply in perspective, I grew up in a small, but proud, one mill milltown. After Christmas and New Years Day had passed, in January and February, late in the day or early in the evening, I would turn on the faithful old RCA Victrola AM radio/phonograph, and wait for the tubes to warm up (and pray that none of them had blown). I was as prepared for the basketball game to follow as careful perusal of the single 3" column in the Greenville News of the prior game could get me. I would sit faithfully through many All Americans from UNC and Duke(and even Weak Florist - God bless them, and especially Len Chappel, as they showed the also-rans that it COULD be done) raining down 4-pointers all night long, even though we didn't even have 3-pointers back then - and pray that one of the Mahaffey boys, or Jim Brennan, or Skip Wise would get hot and MAYBE keep it to a single-digit loss, which was as good as a win in those days. When our local IPTAY rep was generous with a ticket or two, and I got to sit close enough to the stage to actually hear (and see) the taunts at home, man, that was heaven indeed
I learned a lot about close losses, and perseverance, and keeping your chin up after a loss by a gutty but not very talented Clemson team in those days - lessons which have not only stood me well in life in general, but also helped me learn to be a gracious winner when little ole Clemson College laid the lumber to some of those same blueblood schools in sports played below the NC/SC state line, in most of which we did much better than in the "non-contact" sports (when that actually meant something) that our neighbors to the north seemed to excel in. Yeah, we won some baseball crowns with incredible 'backy chewing coaches, and, most important, we won a good many football games, and crowns, while remembering the life's lessons taught (and learned) on colder nights in front of a vacuum tube radio. God please help me remember how to be as gracious in winning as most of us learned to accept adversity with a loss - and most of all, be good representatives of our Savior and our school, win or lose - that way we can encourage and pull for all of the Tigers, players and coaches!!! Brownell has taken a considerably longer time to show up than Dabo. Now that he's putting it together, I will appreciate the present. As we have all seen, the present doesn't last forever, but, while it's here, I will enjoy it for as long as it lasts. I hope that Brownell has a long run. The ironic question becomes, if he has a good run this year, and maybe next year, how long before a "major" program throws out a bunch of money to pull him away? Make no mistake, I'm pulling for Clemson, no matter who's in charge...
