Does this not hurt the OU and UT brands?

Alabama will still win the SEC every year, not OU or UT. So they get more money in TV contracts but.. wins they go down a peg or two. OU was a perennial CFP item. Now they may fall back to the level of Auburn or Florida. Good teams but definitely second fiddle to Bama.

No. It’s not like they’re winning playoff games now.

They’ll be the same on the field while making more money. I don’t see why this isn’t obvious for some people.

Agreed. They get more TV money, maybe, but not sure there will be more wins, although most of the sec is not championship caliber like AL and usually 1 more from their conference.

I wouldn’t listen to Fineboob at all. He wants people to talk about the SEC and Alabama. That’s his daddy and who allows him to live an easy life. Dumbo couldn’t come up with an original thought if the SEC wasn’t around.

I think that is looking at it a little short sided. I do think in the short term it'll hurt them in the win/loss column. But I think overall, outside of just the revenue, I am imagining their recruiting, specially on defense picking up. I think they have a big jump on the rest of that league. I think they will be around Georgia tier before we know it.

When joining a super conference, your chances of being in the playoffs is far less because you have greater competition within your own conference. Big mistake for those who join who are perennial players in the playoffs.

Not when they expand the play-offs and the SEC is getting three teams in.

I think a big reason on the field they both want in SEC is as someone else said it will help them recruit Defensive players. Some D players do not want to play in Big 12. Also, OK may have 1-2 additional losses, but with 12 team play off they still get in. Sankey was on the CFP committee and played this perfectly.

12 team playoff. If it was absolutely staying at 4 teams, they would not make this move.

Nobody understands this is all about golf. Texas and OU have been left in the dust by Okie State and needed to find a safe conference to compete in.
