The 9th ranked total Offense and the 95th ranked Defense?

(We finished 9th in total D and 95th in total O)


Just curious the weight of a great D vs a great O. And which Coaching role holds more weight/importance. With the coaching rumors I would say we would be hurt far worse by a BV departure than a TE departure.

Since all football game results are predicated on the number of points scored, I prefer “scoring defense” stats for determining the quality of a defense.

Some sort of average. Total does not tell the full story, imo.

That means the D was actually better than their ranking (always on the filed).

Honestly, we would be better with BV plus an experience OC that had coached with top teams through the years as an OC!!! TE has only gotten OC experience from one person, and he was and still is a HS coach!!!

Clemson finished 9 in Total Defense and 2 in Points Allowed vs 3 of the top 6, 4 of top 33, 5 of top 40 scoring offenses and 2 top 10, 4 top 30 total offenses.

1st and foremost - great question! One worthy of discussion by football heads such as myself.

2nd. note I am a person that could watch a 9-3 ball game "AND ENJOY IT"! A.K.A - I like defense.

In my opinion though, we would have finished better than 9-3 if the offense and defense switched! Some of the teams we played were just okay on offense!
