Do any of you people have solar panels?

I got the sales pitch last night. I'm skeptical but also it kinda sounds interesting, what with the tax incentives. Supposedly they operate up to 40 years with 25yr warranty.
Top Tier solar is the company that pitched it.

gov or utility companies. California is getting less and less payback every year on the energy they sell back to the utility company. I suspect this will occur in every state as the years go on.

This is not a self-store deal. No batteries.

You're probably correct that the paybacks will shrink.

It is hard to follow the how they credit you on the billing. Near as I can tell you getting more bang for buck if you are actually using it as you collect it. Otherwise, you are just getting the wholesale price for your generation. I bought a timer to run my water heater during middle of the day but still haven't installed it. Best bang for buck was the added insulation in the attic and reflective mylar baffling on the rafters with solar attic fan.

I bought into Broad River’s community solar program early on and I get monthly credit for the electricity my 4 panels generate each month.

No panels on my house, no maintenance, just sweet sweet solar credits.

about 280 kwh per month. That's about half of my usage. I went with the monthly averaging and pay $44 per month. I figgered the payback is closer to 14-15 years as opposed to the 8-9 years they were pitching. Probably less now since they keep raising the rates.

When SCE&G was taking our money to build the nuclear plant to make themselves more money selling it out of state I decided to pull the trigger. They were offering some extra incentives at the time that added a few more dollars per month. All in all, not a bad investment. Not great but o.k. Do your maffs.

Mine are in the back yard so it is easy to hit it with the pressure washer couple times a year. They do get dirt and pollen build up then shid grows on that just like on your siding.

Sunpro eleven panels on roof. Save during warm months. Have gas heat. Electric on A/C.
