Did a little project on my computer.

Actually, when I built it, I wanted to do this, but it was such a PITA I did the easy way and just never got back to doing it right.

Basically it's the case fans. I have 4. A 220mm, a 140mm and 2x 120mm. They came with the case, and were wired into this fan controller on the top next to the power button. Need more fan speed, increase it using the button. Want it quiet, turn it down. BUT, when you play a game, convert videos, or do anything else that fires up all cores, the case fans do not change, unless you manually change them on the panel.

SO....when I built it it was an easy hookup pre-assembled like the case was set. But I never liked it.

Bought 4 new case fans. Same size. Higher quality. Replaced the stock case fans with the good ones. Ran all of those into a 4 socket fan connector and ran that to the case fan 4-pin connecter on the motherboard. A major PITA, but it's done and I never have to worry about messing with the case fan speeds. They respond to CPU temperature right along with the cpu fans now.

And yes, I checked the cfm on all four new fans. 2 intakes and two exhaust fans are within 5cfm, so it should be pretty good. Got two high flow 120mm intakes for the front and put the 220 on top and the 140 on the top back as exhaust. Also, original case has the two front intakes sideways, and not front to back. So they basically cooled the ONE HDD and didn't even cool the case really. NEVER liked the stock fan setup in the case.

Just cranked out 20 video conversions at once, maxed out all cores, and the CPU stays 10 degrees (c) cooler now. So it was worth it.

Take those case fans and put them on a UDS with a rheostat

And you can control your cook temp as good as a BGE.

You can set how it responds to the cpu. Case fans now work in unison with cpu fans. But I can set them separately too if I want.
