Dear Tnet...

Sep 21, 2021, 8:28 AM

Be well

"When you become more aware of your tendency to overthink things, you can take steps to change. But first, you have to recognize that overthinking does more harm than good.

Sometimes, people think that their overthinking somehow prevents bad things from happening. And they think if they don't worry enough or rehash the past enough then somehow, they'll encounter more problems. But, the research is pretty clear--overthinking is bad for you and it does nothing to prevent or solve problems.

Here are 10 signs that you're an overthinker:

1) I relive embarrassing moments in my head repeatedly.
2) I have trouble sleeping because it feels like my brain won't shut off.
3) I ask myself a lot of "what if..." questions.
4) I spend a lot of time thinking about the hidden meaning in things people say or events that happen.
5) I rehash conversations I had with people in my mind and think about all the things I wished I had or hadn't said.
6) I constantly relive my mistakes.
7) When someone says or acts in a way I don't like, I keep replaying it in my mind.
8) Sometimes I'm not aware of what's going on around me because I'm dwelling on things that happened in the past or worrying about things that might happen in the future.
9) I spend a lot of time worrying about things I have no control over.
10) I can't get my mind off my worries."

right now.

I cannot quote the source, but I have read that approximately 80% of what we worry about never happens. And, that 12%-15% of the things we worry about that do occur, it isn't as bad as we imagined it would be.

And most importantly...

I find that worrying about things can erase the past and alter the present.

It always complicates a problem when the math guys get involved in real world issues and problems. . .

obtw: Have you ever stopped to wonder, or question why, their numbers never seem to add up to 100%? Maff guys!

Yup. Clemson even signed off on it and gave me a few pieces of paper but made me buy the purple suit.

But football isn't one of them. Go Tigers.

disorder, you may want to get that checked out. Fortunately, I spent 9 days in the everglades with no clothes or electronics, and a book entitled Extradanary, Popular Delusions, and the Madness of Crowds. I highly recommend this to anyone experiencing the above symptoms.

Sigh.
Now, I'll have to worry, all day, if I'm worrying too much, because I'm overthinking it and then worrying too much because I'm overthinking it. Or is it, that I'm overthinking it about worrying too much.
I gets the confusement.
Gee, thanks for that.

Ok, ok. I’ll admit it. I over thought this…

Thank you. I think. You are referring to me and my post(s) about our team, right? If not, well, it seemed as if you might be singling me out. It happens to me a lot. But I can’t help it. I’m sorry if I’ve misunderstood you or your meaning. I really do that a lot, too. Sorry, again. But anyway, I will try to do better in the future, but I will need to ruminate further as to the areas in which I can do better, learn from my mistakes, and so on and so forth. But I could be wrong about that. Again. I do that a lot, too. You know, being wrong about what I thought I was being wrong about. Anyway, I’ll work on it. And get back to you.

I'll be thinking about this all day.

Is it a little early for Christmas posts? Those colored balls of wadded up paper in the picture look like Christmas ornaments. I'm gonna flag this post for the day after Halloween, when Christmas stuff is more appropriate. Do you leave your tree up through January? Some people do.
